Live Treasure Appraisal: Your Pokémon Can't Breed!

Chapter 45: 45

Unlike the Pokémon anime and games as we know them, this world contains a mysterious substance called "Pokémon Energy."

After training, Ye Yinchuan saw floating light particles—these were Pokémon Energy. The reason Pokémon possess supernatural abilities, capable of unleashing water, fire, electricity, and other elemental attacks, is all due to Pokémon Energy existing in this world.

One hypothesis suggests that Pokémon are physical entities born from Pokémon Energy, though there is no concrete evidence to support this theory. Historically, Pokémon were also called "monsters" or "pocket monsters," and some people still use those names today.

Pokémon have an exceptionally high absorption and utilization efficiency for Pokémon Energy, storing it within themselves as "Pokémon Power." Every move they perform consumes this Pokémon Power— for example, the energy glow from Little Snorlax's Defense Curl is a manifestation of its stored Pokémon Power.

At this moment, however, Ye Yinchuan was more interested in the effects of Pokémon Energy on humans and how it could be utilized.

A major benefit of this world was that, thanks to Pokémon Energy, humans were naturally healthier and lived longer. Moreover, through physical training, when the human body rapidly expended energy, its sensitivity to Pokémon Energy increased, allowing for faster absorption. This explained why Ye Yinchuan could see floating Pokémon Energy when he was completely exhausted after running.

Additionally, since Pokémon naturally absorbed and stored Pokémon Energy at an incredible rate, their training sessions further intensified this ability, causing a surge in Pokémon Energy concentration around them. As a result, when humans trained alongside their Pokémon, they too could absorb more Pokémon Energy.

In short, this world's rules actively encouraged humans to train with their Pokémon. This also explained why some professional trainers had such incredible physical fitness, with some even able to support Pokémon weighing 20–30 kilograms with one hand. Generally speaking, the stronger a trainer's Pokémon, the stronger the trainer's own body. In a way, this was Pokémon returning the favor to their trainers.

Ye Yinchuan mused to himself. "This perfectly explains the Super Rookie phenomenon! As long as someone continuously trains their Pokémon, especially strong ones, humans in this world can also grow significantly stronger. Of course, they'll never be as powerful as Pokémon, but still..."

This realization reinforced his conviction. "Training is essential. Even if I don't plan to battle competitively, both for my health and for Little Snorlax's, we need to keep training."

He continued reading. "Humans here are developing machines to harness Pokémon Energy? Now that's interesting. If they succeed, it could revolutionize society!"

Immersed in his research, time flew by. Before he knew it, 2:59 PM had arrived—one minute before his scheduled livestream. He logged into his streaming platform. Punctuality was key—not too early, but never late.

@PidgeyCan'tFly: "Streamer, cutting it close, huh?"

Ye Yinchuan was surprised to see that his stream already had viewers waiting. His audience retention was excellent!

"Come on now, 'cutting it close' makes it sound like I'm some kind of criminal."

Interacting with chat came naturally to him. A good streamer needed wit, the ability to catch onto jokes, and most importantly—engagement.

Meanwhile, in a livestreaming studio, a fashionable young female streamer dressed playfully and cutely was rapidly typing on her phone, her manicured nails tapping against the screen with sharp clicks.

@PidgeyCan'tFly: "Streamer, you are a criminal—an uninvited thief of hearts. Just one glance at you, and you've stolen mine."

A mischievous smirk curled on Xiao Wen's lips. Her fair, delicate features and fox-like eyes exuded charm, capable of captivating both men and women alike.

This Xiao Wen, full name Xu Qingwen, was a signed female streamer under the Golden Pearl Streaming Guild. She was one of the most popular rising stars, debuting around the same time as Ye Yinchuan—both were originally under Hu Yue's management.

She had noticed that Hu Yue had previously gifted Ye Yinchuan donations and had remembered his name. Today, on a whim, she decided to pay him a visit... Not to tease him, of course. Just to "check in" on this little brother the guild had kicked out.

Ye Yinchuan looked at the chat message and got chills. "What kind of nonsense is this? Is she trying to make it awkward?"

Still, as a professional, he played along. "Please don't fall for me, oh~ I'm just a legend~"

@Viewer: "How old are you? That joke is ancient!"

@Viewer: "My long-buried cringe memories are attacking me!"

At the Golden Pearl Studio, Xiao Wen laughed out loud, just as she was about to type again—

Ye Yinchuan continued. "And you better not keep looking at me in the crowd… because you're too beautiful! One more glance, and I might explode!"

She nearly spat out her drink. The surrounding streamers turned to look at her, confused. Xiao Wen quickly waved them off. "Just saw a hilarious video, that's all!"

Hu Yue, seated at a nearby desk, gave her a side glance. Xiao Wen flashed an innocent smile, looking both guilty and playful. Hu Yue muttered, "Something about this feels suspicious…" but didn't press the issue.

Meanwhile, Xiao Wen swiftly typed another message.

@PidgeyCan'tFly: "Streamer, do you dare to appraise a Pokémon for me? My Pidgey has never learned how to fly. Can you check if there's something wrong with it?"

She glanced down at her Pidgey, resting lazily beneath her chair. A mixture of affection and frustration filled her eyes. Other Pidgeys loved flying—perching on high places and flapping around. But her Pidgey? It preferred lying on the ground like a dog, refusing to even attempt flying. She had taken it to a Pokémon Center, but every check-up came back perfectly healthy.

Now, seeing Ye Yinchuan's Pokémon appraisals, she figured she might as well give it a shot—if he found something useful, it would be a win-win.

"Sure. Since you're the first chatter in today's stream, I can't turn you down. Besides, other viewers might send donations, but you? You sent me your heart. If I don't help you, wouldn't that make me a scumbag?"

Ye Yinchuan had no idea if "PidgeyCan'tFly" was a man, a woman, or something else entirely. To him, this was just normal streamer interaction, playing along with chat's jokes.

Meanwhile, Xiao Wen frowned. "Huh. No wonder Hu Yue scouted him back then. He really knows how to engage an audience. But being good at talking doesn't always bring in viewers… So why does it feel like his numbers have actually gone up since leaving the guild?"

She had assumed that Ye Yinchuan, a complete flop under the guild, would be even more irrelevant after getting kicked out. But now, seeing his steadily growing viewership, she became genuinely curious about his Pokémon appraisals.

@PidgeyCan'tFly: "Wait a sec, streamer. Let me find a good place to call in."

Her eyes twinkled mischievously as she grabbed her Pidgey… And headed straight to the bathroom. She didn't want Hu Yue to catch her sneaking into Ye Yinchuan's stream, or she'd never hear the end of it.

[Call Connected!]

As the video feed loaded, Ye Yinchuan froze. "This is your 'good place'? Are you Old Eight?"

@Chat: "Bro, is this the bathroom?!"

"NO WAY, NOT THE TOILET!"

"Who does Pokémon appraisals in the restroom?!"

"Chug it, boys!"
