Chapter 267: Chapter 266: The Right Timing

Chapter 266: The Right Timing

Black Zetsu and White Zetsu hurriedly returned to their hidden base after leaving the Kumogakure camp in the Land of Hot Water.

They had no idea what had just happened in Konoha—but they knew one thing for certain:

They had to report what they had seen to Madara immediately.

The moment they arrived, Madara's ancient voice echoed from his throne:

"What's wrong? You seem anxious."

The Uchiha patriarch slowly opened his eyes.

A smirk spread across White Zetsu's face as he spoke playfully:

"You won't believe what we just saw."

Madara, however, ignored him.

Instead, he turned to Black Zetsu—the one he truly trusted.

Black Zetsu spoke in a low and serious tone:

"We must eliminate that boy, Tonari, immediately. If we delay any further, he will become a major threat."

Madara's expression remained calm, but there was a flicker of interest in his eyes.

"Oh?"

Black Zetsu continued:

"He has discovered the truth behind the All-Encompassing Power (森罗万象, Senra Banpaku). He possesses a Mangekyō Sharingan of unknown origin, and he has also awakened the cells of Senju Hashirama within himself."

Madara's eyes finally narrowed.

"Are you certain?"

"Absolutely." Black Zetsu nodded. "If he were a natural-born Uchiha or Senju, he might have already achieved the true All-Encompassing Power."

White Zetsu chimed in with a chuckle:

"And thanks to those Senju cells, his Mangekyō Sharingan barely experiences any drawbacks."

Madara's lips curled into a dark grin.

"Fascinating… And you say he has a Mangekyō Sharingan?"

"Yes."

A low chuckle escaped Madara's throat, growing louder and louder until it became a full-blown laugh.

"Hahaha…! I never expected to find someone so… interesting before my final departure. Now I truly wish to see how he dances."

Black Zetsu felt a headache coming on.

He had finally convinced Madara to take this seriously, but now the old man was enjoying himself too much.

Before Black Zetsu could push further, another White Zetsu clone emerged from the walls.

This one looked different from the others, and its face was filled with excitement.

"Big news! Major developments in Konoha!"

Everyone turned to face him.

"What happened?" Black Zetsu demanded.

White Zetsu grinned and relayed the shocking information:

"Tonari fought against both Hiruzen Sarutobi and Danzo in the village. In the end, Danzo was captured, and it seems like Tonari and Hiruzen chose to back down."

Madara's smirk widened.

"So, even after all that, he still remained in Konoha?" Black Zetsu muttered, displeased.

White Zetsu shrugged.

"It seems like he used Wood Release and gained a lot of support from Konoha's shinobi."

Black Zetsu gritted his teeth.

"Danzo was utterly useless. We helped him so many times, and this is what happens?"

Madara shook his head slowly, speaking in a calm yet arrogant tone:

"I told you long ago—someone without true strength is nothing, no matter how many schemes they have. They will always be crushed by those with real power."

He closed his eyes briefly before continuing:

"For now, leave Tonari be. We have more pressing matters. Obito's training is reaching a critical stage, and I need to focus my energy on him."

Black Zetsu clenched his fists but did not argue.

He had to maintain his deception and couldn't risk exposing his true motives.

"Understood."

Then, Madara added:

"However… keep an eye on Nagato. He has been far too quiet lately."

Black Zetsu nodded.

"Ever since Nagato summoned the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, he has remained hidden. I suspect the Rinnegan is placing too much strain on his body."

Madara scoffed.

"Hmph. A mere mortal body was never meant to wield the eyes of a god. His suffering is inevitable."

A dark glint shone in Madara's eyes.

"But his time will come soon enough. When the moment is right… I will return."

That night, Konoha was restless.

A major shift had taken place.

The once untouchable Danzo Shimura had been officially declared a traitor.

And the most shocking revelation?

Konoha's beloved hero, the Azure Cat, Tonari—

Was a descendant of the Senju Clan.

And not only that—he had awakened Wood Release, the legendary power of the First Hokage.

When the news spread through the village, many shinobi cheered in celebration.

For years, Konoha had lived under the shadow of war.

But now, with a new Senju rising…

It felt like hope had returned.

Deep within Tonari's abandoned cat house, a private gathering was taking place.

Only four individuals were present.

Seated across from Tonari, Uchiha Fugaku took a sip of tea, his sharp gaze fixed on Tonari's Mangekyō Sharingan.

"Tonari-kun… seeing how you evacuated this place beforehand, it's clear you expected the worst outcome. Were you planning to leave Konoha if things went south?"

Tonari chuckled, setting down his cup.

"It's always good to have a backup plan. I knew Danzo would try something reckless, and I couldn't risk having my people held hostage."

Fugaku remained silent, but the slight nod of his head showed his approval.

Then, another voice spoke.

"So… what do you plan to do with Danzo?"

The speaker was none other than Orochimaru.

Unlike Fugaku, who still had to think about his clan's safety, Orochimaru had nothing to lose.

He had already been pushed away from the village.

He had been one step away from defecting.

But now?

Now, things had changed.

Tonari met Orochimaru's gaze and spoke calmly:

"Danzo must die. But first, I need to extract everything useful from him."

A sharp intake of breath came from the hooded figure sitting across from them.

Tonari turned his head slightly and smiled.

"It's okay. You don't have to hide anymore."

The figure hesitated… then slowly pulled back the hood.

A beautiful woman with golden-blonde hair and round glasses revealed herself.

Her name was—

Yakushi Nono.

A former elite member of Root.

A woman who had once worked directly under Danzo—until she saw the darkness of his ways.

Fugaku raised an eyebrow, but Orochimaru's eyes narrowed in understanding.

"Ah… so that's how you uncovered all of Danzo's secrets."

Yakushi Nono smiled bitterly.

Tonari leaned forward slightly, his voice dropping to a whisper.

"Danzo is just the beginning."

Fugaku frowned. "And after him?"

Tonari grinned.

"After that… we wait for the perfect moment."

Orochimaru licked his lips, his golden eyes flashing with intrigue.

"And if the Third refuses to step down?"

Tonari's grin widened, a hint of madness glinting in his eyes.

"Then… we help him retire."

A long silence filled the room.

Then, slowly—

Orochimaru smiled.
