Chapter 262: Chapter 261: Surrounded
Chapter 261: Surrounded
Hearing the cold question from Tonari, the Third Raikage sneered dismissively.
"You Konoha shinobi are truly amusing. The war isn't even over, and you're already busy suspecting, undermining, and even backstabbing each other. And yet, you hold the most fertile lands in the entire ninja world and sit atop the largest hidden village. Frankly, it's disgraceful."
"Was it Danzo who told you?"
Tonari ignored the Raikage's taunts, his face expressionless as he repeated his question.
The Third Raikage's smug expression faded. After a moment, he nodded calmly.
"That's right."
Upon receiving confirmation, Tonari's reaction was far calmer than the Raikage had expected.
Taking a deep breath, the Mangekyō Sharingan beneath his white mask spun violently.
The space around him began to distort once more.
A slight tremor pulsed through the battlefield.
Seeing this, the Third Raikage's eyes widened, and he swiftly turned to the corners of the battlefield.
There, the previously composed Cloud Village barrier specialists were struggling, their faces red as they gritted their teeth to maintain the spatial seal.
Some of the weaker ones even had blood trickling from their lips.
"Damn it! Danzo swore he could only perform simple spatial jumps—was that another one of his lies?!"
The Raikage cursed under his breath.
Suddenly—
Tonari's head snapped up, his gaze sharp.
The spatial distortions around him vanished in an instant.
Instead, a small smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.
"Found them."
By pushing his Kamui to its absolute limit, he had forcefully rippled the locked space—revealing the locations of the Cloud Village's barrier team.
If he took them out, the barrier would collapse, allowing him to escape freely!
The Cloud ninjas had indeed acquired sealing techniques from the Uzumaki clan, and they had put them to good use.
Tonari's eyes narrowed.
In the next moment, his stance shifted, and every Cloud shinobi tensed.
Then—
He suddenly lunged in the opposite direction.
In the blink of an eye, lightning chakra cloaked his entire body, dramatically boosting his speed.
"Protect the barrier team!"
The Third Raikage roared as he vanished in a flash of lightning.
His son, A, immediately followed.
"Using the Lightning Cloak against us? That's laughable!"
A sneered, keeping pace with his father.
Yet, neither of them was the fastest person present.
That title belonged to Killer Bee.
He had been watching Tonari closely—and now, the escape route Tonari had chosen led straight to him.
"Heh!"
With a low growl, Killer Bee's body was instantly engulfed in crimson chakra—half transforming into the Eight-Tails' form.
"Blade Dance of the Eightfold Killer!"
The red silhouette charged forward.
Two massive ox horns adorned his head, his body clad in the Eight-Tails' cloak, as he barreled directly toward Tonari.
Tonari's expression darkened.
He drew his circular blade and swung it at Killer Bee's head.
But Killer Bee refused to dodge.
If they clashed directly, even for a moment, the Third Raikage and A would reach them—and Tonari would be annihilated instantly.
Realizing this, Tonari changed tactics.
Just as they were about to collide, he twisted his body, skimming past Killer Bee's shoulder.
The intense Tailed Beast chakra scorched his clothing, nearly burning his flesh.
"You're not getting away!"
Killer Bee lashed out.
Each of his eight tails wielded a thin, razor-sharp blade, slashing toward Tonari.
Tonari's body flared with blue chakra—
He had entered the Two-Tails Mode.
Killer Bee had seen this state before.
With a determined grunt, he charged forward.
Boom!
The ground shattered beneath them as Tonari and Killer Bee clashed.
The impact sent debris flying in all directions.
When the dust settled, the two were locked in a deadlock—palms pressed against each other in the center of a crater.
"Heh... Even though I can't use your cat's form, my bond with the Eight-Tails is stronger than ever, fool, ya fool!"
Killer Bee taunted.
Tonari's expression remained serious.
Due to the force of the clash, his mask had crumbled—revealing a single spinning red eye.
Killer Bee's pupils shrank in horror.
In the next instant—
His mind went blank.
When he regained awareness—
He found himself in his inner mindscape.
Not only that—he wasn't alone.
Across from him stood a massive, blue-black, two-tailed beast—Matatabi, the Two-Tails.
And sitting atop Matatabi's head was Tonari.
His Mangekyō Sharingan glowed ominously, radiating an unshakable pressure.
"A Sharingan...? No, you ain't no Uchiha! What the hell, fool, ya fool?!"
Killer Bee gasped.
Before he could react, something else began to form—
A towering, golden chakra beast.
The Eight-Tails.
Tonari's gaze turned cold.
In a blink, he vanished from Matatabi's head and appeared before Killer Bee, gripping the forming chakra with one hand.
His voice echoed through the mental realm—
"Disappear."
The golden chakra crackled and shattered, vanishing in an instant.
The Eight-Tails' manifestation collapsed, leaving nothing but emptiness.
With a low hum, the Mangekyō Sharingan's glow faded slightly.
"This is bad, fool, ya—"
Before Killer Bee could finish, his consciousness faded.
Back in reality, the entire exchange lasted less than a second.
To everyone else, it looked like—
Killer Bee had simply locked eyes with Tonari.
Then, the red Tailed Beast Cloak covering him vanished instantly.
"BEE!!"
A's panicked shout filled the air.
One of their greatest warriors had fallen unconscious in an instant.
Tonari's face darkened.
Even though he had moved as fast as possible, the delay was too costly.
A shadow loomed over him.
Boom!
The Third Raikage's fist crashed into his shoulder, sending him hurtling backward.
At the last second, Tonari had managed to twist his body—otherwise, the punch would have hit his skull.
Even so—
Crack. Crack.
The sound of breaking bone filled the air.
Tonari's shoulder was shattered.
He tumbled dozens of times across the ground before coming to a stop.
His Two-Tails transformation flickered and faded.
The sheer power of that punch had overwhelmed it.
"Damn it…"
As he struggled to stand, A had already arrived, ready to finish him off.
Tonari barely managed to dodge, his breath ragged.
Then—
A's eyes locked onto his.
"...A Sharingan?"
Tonari didn't waste the opportunity.
"Genjutsu—Binding Stake!"
A froze, his body locked in place.
However—
Black lightning surged around him.
The Third Raikage's voice rang out.
"No more games. I'll end you myself!"
