Chapter 2: Gacha Gotcha Good
I didn't waste any time checking what type of system it was. Chat system? Multiverse travel? Template selection? Nope. This bad boy was the one and only Gacha.
Oh, fantastic.
A blue screen popped up
Peter Parker
Race: Human
Characters Assimilated:
Fully Assimilated: None
In Progress: [Empty] [Empty]
Summons: None
Powers: None
Equipped Items: None
Yep. This was exactly the kind of system that was ridiculously popular in fanfiction. Daily log-in points? Check. Horribly expensive exchange rate? Also check.
[1 point per day. 3 points for a random normal card.]
Oh, and I could buy points too. $100 for 30 points per month.
Wait a minute. Shouldn't that be 100 points?
Sigh.
That meant I could only get 60 points per month max unless I found some other way to farm them. Not the worst deal, but still.
Now, time to roll the dice. First things first, find a private spot. No way was I doing this in a school hallway.
I ducked into the washroom, locked the stall, took out some cash, and whispered, "Exchange."
[Gacha Points: 31]
Alright, moment of truth. If I pulled Superman on my first try, I would
No. No jinxing it. Let's see what I got.
New Cards:
Subject 8 (Spy x Family)
Chocolate Frog (Harry Potter)
Kunai x17 (Naruto)
Richard Grayson (DC)
Background Customization Card x7
B.E.A.S.T. Glove (MonsterVerse)
Sun Gun (Ben 10)
Specific Cards x6 (Marvel)
Edna E. Mode (The Incredibles)
Harem Protagonist
Wait.
What the f—
I squinted at the last card like it had personally insulted me. I knew exactly what this meant. Anyone who had read even a single harem anime knew what this was.
To clarify, it didn't mean I would suddenly become some kind of mind-controlling creep. It was more like the Issei Hyoudou Special from High School DxD.
Considering Peter Parker's usual luck with women, I wasn't entirely against it.
Moving on.
Subject 8 is a big, fluffy dog with precognition. That's right, Anya's future-seeing pet. Not a bad summon, but I would hold off on that one for now.
Chocolate Frog can be tried later.
Kunai will be useful specially with dick marksmanship.
Then came my first template
Richard Grayson.
Holy crap.
Nightwing. Batman's favorite sidekick. Peak human abilities. Acrobatics. Martial arts. Hacking. Tactics. Detective skills. This guy had everything I needed for basic vigilante-ing.
And the next template?
Edna E. Mode.
No capes!
Jokes aside, having the superhero suit designer in my arsenal was huge. Independence was key. I wanted to handle as much as possible myself.
B.E.A.S.T. Glove is King Kong's punchy hand replacement.
Background Customization Cards these let me create a legal identity. Super handy, though expensive depending on how elaborate I got.
Sun Gun could be useful against vampires.
Then came the Marvel cards.
Not just one but six.
Oh, hell yes. Let's see what I pulled.
Jacob Gavin, Jr.
Mutant Inhibitor Collar
Hulk Plushie
Anulax Battery x7
Muramasa Blade
Raven Darkhölme
Two more templates!
Mystique. This alone was a game-changer. Shape-shifting? Perfect. I wouldn't have to worry about getting recognized ever again. Plus, Jacob's powers ensured that no one could mess with my DNA or create clones of me.
And yeah, using them would technically make me a mutant, but considering my situation? Worth it.
The Muramasa Blade was another win. This thing could cut through almost anything, except psychic shields. A handy weapon when dealing with certain superpowered threats.
Mutant Inhibitor Collar could shut down a mutant's abilities.
Hulk Plushie and Anulax Batteries? Eh. One was cute, the other was from Guardians of the Galaxy.
All in all? Not bad.
I didn't waste time. I immediately started assimilating Dick Grayson and Edna Mode.
As for Mystique and Jacob's powers? I would wait until after I got bitten by the radioactive spider. No sense messing with my DNA before that happened.
Not that I expected anything to go wrong, but hey better safe than mutated beyond recognition.
Since the next lecture was about to start, I made my way back to class.
The moment I stepped in and took my seat, Ned turned to me, arms crossed. "You should really cut back on the part-time jobs, Peter. Did you see how angry she was?"
Oh, right. The bear I saw after waking up? That was just Ned.
I nodded absentmindedly in response.
"I don't think it's Mr. Daniels' lecture next," he muttered, watching the approaching teacher.
I didn't say anything. Still needed time to adjust.
The teacher clapped his hands. "Class, there's a great opportunity for all of you."
The room quieted down.
"We've been given the chance to visit Oscorp."
Oh.
Oh.
Excitement buzzed through the class, and I wasn't the only one looking toward Harry. Not that he seemed to care he didn't even react.
"Alright, settle down," the teacher said, cutting through the chatter.
I stopped listening after that, already lost in my own thoughts.
This was it. The trip.
Would it be me? Or someone else? Because, let's be honest, not every Peter Parker in the multiverse becomes Spider-Man.
No. It would be me.
I wasn't about to let this opportunity slip away.
Yes that's it.
