High School DxD:Milking System World

Chapter 19: CH 19

The tension in the living room was palpable after Jin's parents excused themselves, supposedly to give the young ones some time alone.

As expected, the tension came from the two girls in the room. If you put enemies—perhaps even mortal enemies—against each other, you would get this kind of atmosphere.

Issei's pretend girlfriend and Jin's fake lover were glaring at each other, both wary of the other's presence.

On one side, Sona appeared calm and in control. However, Jin could sense a certain malice emanating from Amano Yuuma, directed at everyone in the room, even Issei. His brother looked uncomfortable, glancing nervously between Jin and Amano Yuuma.

'Aha! So the Devil isn't hostile, and whatever Amano Yuuma is, she harbors hostility toward both the Devil and humanity.'

After a few minutes of tense silence, Issei could no longer handle it and tried to break the ice.

"H-Hey… Should we play a game together?"

His younger brother was clearly nervous—his stutter was proof of that.

"Good idea."

Unexpectedly, the one who answered while clapping her hands was Amano Yuuma. Her lips curled into a grin as she glanced at Sona.

Facing her gaze, Sona crossed her arms and muttered under her breath.

"What is she planning?"

Jin, sitting beside her, caught what she said.

'Indeed, what is she planning?'

He had the same question as Sona. Great minds think alike, they say. But, the only ignorant person in the room decided to move forward on his own without consulting Jin or Sona.

"Great! Then, what should we play? I think cards would be a good choice."

"I agree."

"Then wait here! I'll go get the deck from my room."

Before Jin or Sona could say a word, it was already decided that they would play cards. And just like that, Issei volunteered to fetch them, leaving the three of them alone in the living room.

Issei's footsteps echoed through the house as he headed upstairs. Then, a loud thud rang out before the footsteps stopped.

Jin felt a bit worried about the noise, but as soon as the footsteps faded into silence, the atmosphere in the living room became even heavier. Amano Yuuma dropped her façade, despite Jin still being present. Her lips stretched into a wide, unsettling grin.

"What an amusing situation… To think that a Sitri would date a mere human. It's laughable—so much so that this will make for some excellent news in the supernatural world."

Kukukuku. Amano Yuuma chuckled darkly, her expression twisting into something maniacal.

This situation was unexpected. Jin hadn't anticipated that someone from the supernatural world would reveal themselves so easily. It made him wonder—was it possible for them to erase people's memories?

'If that's the case, then I can understand why they don't even bother hiding. But if it's true… this world is even more messed up than I originally thought. I need to step up my game.'

He frowned.

"What are you talking about?"

Sona feigned ignorance—likely because Jin was in the room.

A normal person. An innocent bystander with no connection to the supernatural world. That was how Sona saw Jin.

Indeed, she had attempted to recruit him into her peerage, but he had skillfully avoided it, thanks to his sharp mind. She respected his decision.

However, Amano Yuuma didn't seem to care about Jin's presence.

"Why pretend to be ignorant, oh heir of Sitri?" The girl—this being called Amano Yuuma—glanced at Jin. "Could it be that he doesn't know? That he's just a mere human, like the fool I put to sleep upstairs?"

'Alright, calm down, Jin. You're just an ignorant human. You don't know anything about the supernatural. Act like it. And now is the perfect time to jump into the conversation.'

"What are you talking about? Heir of Sitri?" Jin asked, casting a suspicious glance at Sona. "Who is Sitri? No one here has that name."

Of course, that was a lie. Jin knew. Or rather, he had guessed who Sitri was.

Ever since discovering the supernatural, he had read every kind of myth he could find. After learning the word Devil from Freed, he had searched online for information about devils and found references to the 72 Lesser Keys of Solomon. Sitri was one of them.

'That means I've landed a big target right from the start. Is this a blessing or a curse? I need to make sure Sona falls for me later. No matter what method I use, I have to ensure that she won't be able to live without me. Otherwise, I'll be in danger.'

"I think she means one of the devils in the Lesser Key of Solomon," Sona unexpectedly replied, saying exactly what he had just been thinking. A slight lie mixed with the truth.

"Hey, Jin-kun. Is your brother's girlfriend alright? I think she's read too many books." She continued smoothly.

'She dodged the question. I'll just play along for now. I need to wait for the perfect moment to strike—when the tension dies down.'

"Maybe—"

"Don't act like a fool, Sona Sitri. I do mean you."

At that moment, Amano Yuuma changed—no, transformed was the right word. Her uniform tore apart, morphing into something resembling a tight latex corset straight out of an adult bondage video.

From her back, two large, black feathered wings burst forth, scattering feathers across the floor as they spread.

Without hesitation, a pink light spear materialized in Amano Yuuma's hand.

The moment Jin saw it, every fiber of his being screamed in alarm. Danger. Mortal danger. His plan had gone awry, and now his life was hanging by a thread.

Sona's eyes widened in shock as she shouted,

"Fallen Angel! I knew it!"

Jin's instincts kicked into overdrive. The first thought in his mind was how to avoid or block the spear. His hand felt something beside him—his bag.

Remembering what was inside, he quickly grabbed it and did the only thing he could think of. This was his last resort.

Even if Sona discovered he had a light sword, he could always blame it on that lunatic Freed for attacking him, making Sona feel guilty since, in a way, it was her fault that he was targeted.

All in all, he was not at a disadvantage.

The problem was, he didn't know how to use the light sword yet. Even so, he swung it just as Amano Yuuma hurled her spear.

At that moment, a notification rang in his ear.

[Ding! Magic Power Unlocked. 1 Year of Lifespan Used to Unlock It!]

[Magic Power: Low Rank]

A surge of knowledge flooded Jin's mind, and a blade of light emerged from the hilt in his grasp.

The sword met the spear, deflecting it. The spear embedded itself into the floor beside Jin.

"Aha! So you really are the one that freak was talking about!" Amano Yuuma shrieked, flying backward toward the window.

"Sona!" Jin shouted, snapping Sona out of her stunned state.

She quickly gathered her magic, a glowing magic circle forming in front of her hands.

But before she could launch her attack, Amano Yuuma had already flown out of the house, waving mockingly at Jin.

"See you tomorrow, human. I believe someone will be very interested to know your location."

With that, she disappeared into the night.

The tension dissipated, leaving behind an awkward silence.

Sona lowered her head as her magic circle faded away. Then, she turned to Jin, glaring at him. He responded with an awkward smile.

"Well, Jin-kun," she said, eyeing the light sword in his hand. "It seems you're holding something very interesting. Care to explain?"

Jin dismissed the sword. Now that he understood magic, it was easy.

He looked at Sona seriously and shrugged.

"Before that, Sona… I think you need to hear my story. And you need to answer some of my questions."
