Haikyuu : The Unstoppable Force

Chapter 56: Chapter 55 : Match (2)

The crowd erupted as the play unfolded before their eyes.

"So strong!"

From the stands, Iwai watched the action on the court, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

With that last move, he had been sure that Karasuno was going to lose the point. But at the most critical moment, Akira had saved the ball that was destined to hit the floor!

"It's so intense!" Kento turned to look at his brother, only to find Iwai staring at the court in pure awe.

"It's over—he's spiking it!"

"What? There's another change?" Kento whipped his head back to the game.

The ball that Akira had miraculously saved flew straight toward the other side of the net. There was no way around it—at that angle, controlling the ball and setting it up for a teammate was nearly impossible. The fact that he even managed to save it was impressive in itself!

But on the other side of the net, Jozenji's ace, Yuto Kamiya, saw this unfolding before him. Although momentarily stunned, he reacted quickly.

He jumped again!

As he went in for another spike, the spectators collectively held their breath.

"It's over! The ball Akira saved won't amount to anything!"

"What a shame!"

The timing of this spike—Karasuno's net was completely open!

There was no one there to block it.

In Karasuno's back row, Nishinoya, Yamaguchi, and Asahi tensed up. They saw Kamiya's movements, lowering their stances, eyes locked onto him, ready to react at any moment.

But then—

Akira, who had just landed from his last dive, jumped again!

It was like he had springs in his legs. There was no hesitation, no delay!

Kamiya had been aiming for the open space behind Karasuno's blockers, but suddenly, as he swung his arm down, a pair of hands appeared right in front of him.

BANG!

The timing was perfect!

Kamiya's powerful spike was blocked straight down!

The ball slammed into the court.

Chirp!

The referee blew the whistle.

Karasuno scored!

"W-What just happened?!"

The crowd erupted in an uproar.

"A second jump block? And in such a short time?!"

"That No. 7 from Karasuno is an absolute monster!"

"I thought for sure Karasuno would lose the point! But then, so many things happened in a flash!"

"It was like a rollercoaster!"

"Not only did he predict the spike—he reacted instantly! His intuition is terrifying!"

"It's not just intuition! His physical abilities are insane!"

"Did you see how fast he jumped again after landing? He actually caught up with Jozenji's attacker, who had already jumped first!"

The entire audience buzzed with excitement.

On the court, it wasn't just Jozenji's players who were stunned.

Even Karasuno's own members were staring at Akira in disbelief.

"Are you even human?" Kageyama finally spoke up.

He had been the one jumping alongside Akira for the block, so he had seen it up close.

The hanging ball that Kamiya had used earlier—Kageyama had seen it, but he hadn't reacted in time.

For someone with Kageyama's reflexes, that was saying something.

He had seen the play unfold, his brain had registered what was happening, but his body simply hadn't kept up.

But Akira?

Not only had he recognized the move immediately—his body had responded just as fast.

And judging by the speed of his second jump, he had anticipated Kamiya's follow-up attack the moment he saved the ball.

He had read the entire play beforehand.

"That was insane!"

From the other side of the net, Terushima Yuuji's voice rang out, full of excitement.

Seiji Okugaku turned around with a scowl. "Terushima! If you even think about trying that during the game, I swear—"

"Hey, hey! I wouldn't dare, Seiji-senpai!" Terushima grinned sheepishly, but the gleam in his eyes betrayed his excitement.

Taking a deep breath, Okugaku composed himself.

He turned to Kamiya. "What did it feel like?"

Kamiya frowned. "It's tough."

"That No. 7's block is way too high."

"I knew it would be difficult to score, so I used the hanging ball as a trick." Kamiya exhaled. "But I didn't expect..."

"Even that wasn't enough!"

"He reacted too fast! His thinking is so sharp!"

Okugaku's heart sank, but he didn't let it show. Instead, he turned to his teammates.

"Stay calm! That was just one point!"

He turned back toward the other side of the net.

"We'll get it back soon!"

"Yeah!" his teammates responded in unison.

The whistle blew.

The game continued.

"I didn't expect this match to be so intense right from the start!"

The crowd was buzzing with excitement after Akira's incredible play.

As the match progressed, Jozenji began to settle into their usual rhythm. Their playstyle was all about adaptability and unpredictability, and it showed.

Particularly, the duo of Kamiya and Okugaku stood out. Their coordination kept Karasuno on edge, and their strategic plays began to show results.

Their teammates, originally shaken by Karasuno's aggressive start, also found their footing again.

But in doing so, they exposed a major weakness.

A steady team like theirs, when faced with an opponent much stronger than them…

Had little to no chance at all.
