Game of Dragonborn.

Chapter 63: Chapter 63 - Reception.

[Chapter Size: 1900 Words.]

Third Person POV.

Westeros.

...

...

"I see you've returned from the South... and not as alone as I expected," Della remarked as they stood inside the main tent. Vall, Della, and Daenerys all gazed at Jon, though the latter wore a cautious expression since her arrival.

"You could say I had some things to take care of. She'll be with me from now on," Jon replied, while Daenerys noticed Val's intense gaze fixed on her.

"Anyway, what about Mance?" Della asked, her tone neutral as Jon gave a small nod.

"Yes, he should be on his way here. Either way, I'll stay until he arrives," Jon said calmly.

Della's eyes narrowed slightly. "You've been beyond the Wall, yet you came back here… Even if you say you're doing this to help us, like you did when you left, it's still suspicious. No offense, but someone with your skills wouldn't have any trouble staying in the South."

A part of her had hoped Jon would stay in the South, but he had kept his word about returning.

"I have some plans for you all. After all, I intend to fight against the South. It would make sense to help you claim your place beyond the Wall first," Jon explained, his voice steady.

Della's eyes narrowed further. "You think the Free Folk will fight with you against the South? I don't see that happening…" Her voice grew slightly louder, but Jon remained unfazed.

"You're right. Most won't want to fight the South. Many only wish to cross the Wall. But they'll still need to claim a place once they do… and I can give them that opportunity," Jon replied calmly. "However, I'd like to discuss that directly with Mance. I won't trouble you until your husband gets here."

Della nodded slightly, understanding that Mance would handle him in the end.

"Very well, then. In any case, welcome back to the camp," she said, before casting a glance at Val with a knowing smile. "Val asked about you often while you were gone. She seemed afraid you wouldn't return."

"..." Val shot her sister a sharp, accusatory look, lowering her gaze to Jon afterward, a hint of embarrassment on her face. But she didn't deny it.

"Anyway, I'll be on my way. Come with me, Val," Jon said as he began to leave the tent.

Della simply nodded. Jon's presence in the camp was already being perceived as something positive. Even in his brief return, his presence had sparked countless stories and seemed to bring a sense of calm and hope to the people.

After all, he was the man who had slain a White Walker and now rode a legendary creature—Winter, the dragon that belonged to him alone.

His return now carried more weight than his departure. Many seemed more confident in facing both the South and the White Walkers with Jon by their side.

Of course, whispers of people wanting to follow Jon had been growing ever since he left. Many were questioning whether Mance should remain king beyond the Wall, especially with someone seemingly more powerful now in their midst.

It was giving Della a headache—and Jon's return was only making it worse. His presence bolstered their confidence, and rumors were spreading that he had crossed the Wall and come back to fight alongside them.

'I'll leave that to Mance to sort out…' was all Della thought.

Jon didn't appear to be someone who would bring trouble, but his plans certainly seemed like they could stir things up. That was a matter for her husband to address.

Jon stepped out of the tent with Daenerys at his side and Val walking alongside him on the other. The same people who had accompanied him to the tent were still there, watching them with curiosity.

Jon carried the giant wolf pup in his arms the entire time. Della had noticed it earlier, though she hadn't realized it was a direwolf pup.

Sixskins emerged from a corner, his eyes half-open as he spotted the wolf in Jon's arms. His gaze glinted with envy, but he wouldn't dare try anything against Jon now. He feared him too much.

As they walked, Val broke the silence.

"So… you've been to the Stark castle?" she asked, ignoring Daenerys's presence entirely.

"Yes. I saw my family, as I said I would," Jon replied without hesitation.

They continued walking through the camp, and Daenerys observed the place with curiosity. The Free Folk were different from the Dothraki she had known until just a day ago. While the Dothraki had exposed bodies and darker skin from constantly being under the sun of Essos, the Free Folk had much paler skin and wore much thicker clothing to protect themselves from the extreme cold of the land. She silently thanked Jon for the clothes he had given her.

Val kept her gaze on Jon, curious after his response.

"Was it difficult? What did you do there?" she asked, referring to Winterfell.

"It was easy. I just did what needed to be done," Jon answered, closing the subject.

"Did you meet your uncle?" Val asked.

"Yes."

"Did you tell him who you are?"

"Yes. I won't lie—it felt good to say it to his face," Jon replied, already anticipating Val's next question.

"Did you kill him?" Val asked directly, and Jon almost laughed.

"No. That would have been too easy, and I had no real reason to kill him inside the castle," Jon said in a calm tone. "What I saw was just a fool sitting at that table. He could have stood up and drawn his sword against me, but even then, I wouldn't have killed him."

Jon noticed Val's doubtful expression and continued.

"If we were on a battlefield, maybe things would be different…" Jon added. "But we weren't in a battle. And I'm not so petty as to kill someone just because they made me suffer when I was a child. However, in battle, everything changes if we're on opposite sides."

Jon explained that this was why he hadn't done anything to the king of Westeros either. He wanted to face them as enemies on the battlefield, not disarm them and break their necks when their guards couldn't intervene. Such actions disgusted him.

"I see. You want the Free Folk to fight by your side, don't you? You know it will be very difficult to convince them to fight for you, right?" Val commented. "They'll only fight for Mance because it's a good guarantee of survival against the ice monsters. But what you want is very different."

"Yes, it will be difficult," Jon admitted as they finally reached Karsi's camp. "But I won't explain it now. Later."

Val followed Jon in silence this time, while Daenerys listened to their conversation without commenting. The silence was broken when a boy ran toward them, unlike the others who merely watched and whispered.

"You finally came back! I knew you'd return! And you came riding your dragon!" the boy exclaimed, his eyes shining with enthusiasm. Jon had previously told him the name of the white beast.

"I can be quite arrogant, but I'm not one to break my promises," Jon replied, ruffling the boy's hair.

"My sister's been waiting for you in the tent since the dragon arrived," the boy informed, and Jon nodded.

Karsi was standing outside her tent, watching him. She nodded in greeting, and Jon returned the gesture with a smile as he approached Lucis, who stood by her tent.

"I'm here," Jon said, meeting her gaze.

"I knew you'd return…" Lucis murmured, and Jon smiled. His lover had feared he would abandon her, but he had promised not to, and now he had proven it.

"Let's go inside. I'm sure Ygritte will be here soon," Jon said, then turned back to the boy. "May I have a conversation with your sister and my spearwives?"

"Yes…" The boy nodded, a little disappointed. He had hoped Jon would continue training with him, but he couldn't expect so much of Jon's attention. Still, Jon entered the tent with the three women, while Daenerys followed behind, feeling somewhat uncomfortable and saying nothing. Lucis studied her closely, scrutinizing her with curiosity.

"Jon!"

It didn't take long for someone to burst into the tent without asking permission. It was Ygritte, looking surprised to see Jon there. She had been out hunting but had returned to the camp as soon as she heard the dragon's roar.

"Good, everyone is here. I can finally say a few things," Jon said as he sat down on the bed and glanced at Daenerys. "Sit by my side," he requested, and she followed his command, while the three women watched him with suspicious eyes.

"This is my aunt, Daenerys Targaryen. And these are my three lovers," Jon said calmly, leaving all four women surprised by his words.

"Lovers?" Daenerys murmured.

"Yes, it's a kind of marriage here. I'm with all of them, and the Free Folk don't mind me having more than one wife," Jon explained to his aunt.

"Jon can have many women as long as he's strong… you could say that many women on the way here still desired him, if you noticed," Val added, and Daenerys nodded in acknowledgment.

"More than that would be a bit troublesome, so I'm fine with it," Jon shrugged.

"Are you all sleeping together, too?" Ygritte asked, and Jon shook his head.

"No, but I've announced to everyone that you're my wife as well," Jon said, looking directly at the Targaryen girl, who couldn't hide her surprise.

"It's not true—just a disguise," Jon clarified for her before turning back to the other women. "She will be my spearwife, and I'd like you to take care of her. She's not from here, but I have a duty to protect her. That's why, to everyone, she will be seen as my lover, so no one tries anything against her."

The other women nodded in agreement with Jon's reasoning.

"Alright… we can help with that," Val said, and Ygritte nodded in approval.

"She can stay with me," Lucis offered, and Jon nodded.

"That's great. Can you teach her some things about the Free Folk? There are things I need to take care of now that I'm here. I have to tend to my dragon and talk to the people. Val, if you could teach her the Old Tongue, I'm sure it will be useful," Jon said, and Val nodded in agreement.

"Daenerys, I'll leave you with them. They're trustworthy. After all, none of them has put a knife to my throat in the middle of the night," Jon joked, making all three women roll their eyes as if he were exaggerating, though everyone knew stolen women could do that. "So I'm sure you'll learn better from a woman. Can I leave you with Lucis? I'll be back in a few hours," Jon asked.

"Yes, yes," Daenerys responded, a bit nervous but nodding in the end, trusting Jon's words.

"Good. Now, let's see what I can do…" Jon mused as he held Ghost in his arms. He had several options: visiting the forest witch and the Children of the Forest, checking on Winter resting on his hill, or finally meeting Tormund, who had offered him a new drink for the red-haired giant.

Without any specific objective in mind, Jon simply moved forward, ready to handle whichever task came first.
