Fairy Tail: I Can Hear Everything With My Unique Skill

Chapter 34: A monster

"Attention all passengers; we have arrived at Crocus City Station." An announcement rang, waking up Akira from his sleep. Since the ride was about 5 hours, he got pretty bored and slept soundly.

" Come on, kiddo, we have to get off the train, " Gildarts, who was carrying his luggage, urged Akira after finding the brat had woken up.

" Okay wait a minute," Akira said as he hurriedly wiped away the drool and took out his luggage with him.

After walking out of the train station, both of them boarded a nearby carriage that would take them toward the Phoenix Mountains. On the carriage, Gildarts sat lazily as he said, "Since this is your first subjugation mission, do you want me to kill one demonic snow wolf and show you how it is done? Or do you want to try doing it for yourself?"

Usually, Gildarts wouldn't offer such choices, as no matter how talented one is, a kid is still a kid. They are very likely to freeze at the unexpected danger and after their first kill. But since it is Akira we are talking about, Gildarts really doesn't need to care that much.

The president clearly said that Akira can handle most unexpected situations calmly like a veteran wizard, so he only needs to make sure this kid doesn't get into any trouble.

" Well, I would like to deal with it on my own. And besides, do we really have a choice? If I let you go first, we would have to abandon the mission and run away from the council troops for accidentally destroying the mountain range. " Akira uttered those words, causing Gildarts to avert his gaze in mild embarrassment.

Although he could control himself and leave the destruction to a minimum, the mountain would still be damaged enough for the council to notice the abnormality.

Gildarts swears those guys must have some tracking and observation device on him, as they always tend to catch him just when he is about to run away.

Soon both of them arrived at their destination. Coming out of the carriage, Akira first paid the driver so the poor man could go back.

In this world where there is danger everywhere, a normal man like him didn't like to even go near danger zones like the Phoenix Mountains. So as soon as he got his money, the man sped up and ran away as quickly as possible.

" Sigh, I wished that guy would stay until we were done hunting. Walking all the way back to the station is a real hassle," Gildarts said with a sigh as he looked at the departing carriage.

Akira just gave him a deadpan look. Although that driver was scared to wait at the foot of the Phoenix Mountain, he was more afraid of staying near the walking calamity called Gildarts.

In fact, the whole journey, the driver was under constant pressure of being implicated in any random destruction Gildarts would cause unconsciously.

Keeping these random thoughts to himself, Akira started walking forward toward Phoenix Mountain. Gildarts also followed behind him while keeping his vigilance. The Phoenix is a relatively dangerous place after all.

As soon as they stepped into the mountain range, an approximately 5-foot-tall brown bear suddenly materialized in front of them. The bear had a ferocious expression as it let out a roar.

"This is a roaring bear, a C-rank monster who lives at the foot of the Phoenix mountain. It got its name due to its roar, which can have a stun effect on its prey. " Gildarts explained not one bit was bothered by the bear's presence.

" I see, so does this monster have any valuable parts? " Akira asked, also not affected by the roars. In order for an abnormal effect to affect someone, the caster's magic power level must exceed that of the affected person. Or else the other person's own magic power would dispel the abnormal effect automatically.

"Hmm, if I remember correctly, the roaring bear's heart is used for paralyzing potions. " Gildarts rubbed his chin and answered.

" I see. " Akira nodded at the unaware bear, who was wondering why its roar was not affecting its prey. "Sorry, big guy; we will take your heart then. " With Akira's words, a light arrow materialized that already ran through the bear's head, killing it instantly.

" Your progress is terrifying as ever, "Gildarts commented as he looked at the light arrow that is slowly beginning to disintegrate. He finally realized why Akira wanted to go out to test his new magic tricks. This kid may have just created his own unique magic applications.

Take that last light arrow, for example. Usually, when one is activating styling magic, they need to activate the magic circle by using the body as the medium. But this kid seems to have managed to create a dome with his magic power that acts like his body so he can create the magic circle in any place under the dome. This is also why a light arrow suddenly appeared on the roaring bear's head, killing it instantly.

' Thankfully this kid didn't try these new techniques in a sparring match. Sigh, kids these days are too scary.' Gildarts inwardly thought, shivering a little. If one isn't careful, they could be seriously injured or worse, killed instantly, just like the poor bear who is being stuffed into a storage bag by Akira.

" Let's go, " Akira said as he walked without waiting for Gildarts. The way this uncle is looking at him is very strange. You know, compared to him, this uncle, who can instantly crush an opponent with his magic power alone, is the truly scary one.

Gildarts fearsome reputation doesn't come from just breaking some mountains or buildings after all. This uncle, who looked harmless, is very scary when dealing with dark guilds.

After walking a while, Akira and Gildarts finally came across their first target. It was a white wolf that had dark markings all over its body. Its red eyes glowed menacingly as it growled at Akira and Gildarts.

"Well, then, kiddo, here's your first target. Do you still want to challenge this guy all by yourself?" Gildarts asked as he looked at Akira with a smile.

"No need; I think I can take him, " Akira said as he walked forward with confidence. No kidding, if he were so incompetent that he couldn't even take on a C-rank monster like this, he should stop living and commit suicide. After all, his mission was to kill a God.

The wolf dashed toward Akira in an instant. Despite it being a C-rank monster, its agility is close to an A-rank monster. Especially with it being able to use both ice and dark magic.

The wolf's claw penetrated Akira, but surprisingly, there was no blood. Akira just multiplied into two. The wolf was so confused about this that he was frozen in place for a few seconds.

The next moment, the wolf howled and two dark spears came out from the ground that went straight towards the two Akiras'. And just like last time, instead of blood, both Akiras began to multiply themselves.

This went on for the next few minutes. The wolf would attack, and Akira would multiply himself. The multiplication stopped after Akira's number was 10. Before the wolf knew it, a large number of Akira, all smiling, surrounded him.

"Since you are done, it's our turn." One of the Akiras spoke as they all began to fire various magics at the poor wolf, who had a desperate expression as it began to dodge the attacks.

Gildarts, who was at the side, had a very fearful expression. At first, he thought these clones Akira had were illusions he used in their earlier fights. But as he probed further, Gildarts found that none of the Akiras were different from each other.

So either all of them were illusions or Akira somehow managed to create a technique that allowed him to clone himself to this level. If it was either one of these, then Gildarts could only describe Akira with a single word.

' A monster '
