CHAPTER 1: THE PRICE ON HIS HEAD
---
1. A Storm on the Horizon
The desert stretched for miles.
Nothing but dust and asphalt beneath the burning sun.
A black muscle car tore across the highway, kicking up a storm of sand in its wake.
Inside, Jaxon "Driver 88" Carter kept his hands steady on the wheel.
Vera sat beside him, checking a loaded pistol.
Lucas slept in the backseat, still recovering from their escape.
The radio crackled.
"—authorities confirm a $10 million bounty has been placed on the fugitive known as 'Driver 88.' Federal agencies warn that—"
Vera clicked it off.
"Well. That's subtle."
Jaxon exhaled, gripping the wheel tighter.
Ten million dollars.
Every bounty hunter, mercenary, and psycho in the country would be after him.
He had survived the Death Races.
But now?
Now the real game had begun.
---
2. First Blood
They weren't even twenty miles out when Jaxon spotted them.
Two black motorcycles.
Closing in.
Fast.
Vera saw them too.
"Friends of yours?" she asked.
Jaxon's jaw clenched.
"Not anymore."
The riders had mirrored visors, black helmets, and suppressed SMGs strapped to their backs.
They weren't cops.
They weren't mercenaries.
They were killers.
The kind sent when you didn't need a body left behind.
The first bounty hunters had arrived.
---
3. A Race for Survival
Jaxon slammed the gas pedal.
The muscle car roared forward.
The bikers matched his speed.
One of them pulled a gun—
Pop-pop-pop!
Bullets ripped through the rear windshield.
Lucas jolted awake.
"WHAT THE FU—"
"GET DOWN!" Jaxon yelled.
Vera leaned out the window, returning fire.
The desert blurred around them as the speedometer climbed.
80 mph.
90 mph.
100 mph.
The bikers flanked them, moving in for the kill.
And Jaxon knew—
This wasn't a chase.
It was a race.
And only one side would survive.
---
4. Highway Carnage
Jaxon twisted the wheel—
Screeeech!
The car swerved, slamming into the first biker.
The motorcycle flipped into the air, the rider screaming before—
BOOM!
They hit the pavement at 110 mph.
Jaxon barely had time to breathe before the second biker jumped onto the car.
THUD!
He landed on the roof.
Metal groaned.
Vera's eyes went wide.
"He's on top!"
Lucas grabbed a shotgun from the backseat.
"I GOT HIM—"
BANG!
A bullet tore through the roof, missing Lucas by inches.
Jaxon growled.
"Hang on."
He yanked the steering wheel—
SCREEECH!
The car swerved again, throwing the biker off.
THUD!
The assassin rolled across the asphalt, disappearing beneath an oncoming truck.
CRUNCH.
Silence.
The bounty hunters were dead.
But this was only the beginning.
---
5. No Safe Haven
Jaxon didn't stop driving until they reached a small, abandoned motel on the edge of nowhere.
Vera checked their ammo.
Lucas was still shaken.
Jaxon sat on the hood of the car, staring at the stars.
"They won't stop coming," Vera said, lighting a cigarette.
Jaxon didn't answer.
Because he already knew the truth.
This wasn't just survival.
It was war.
And every road would lead him deeper into hell.
---
6. The Devil in White
Somewhere in the city, a man in a white suit watched the footage from the desert shootout.
He leaned back in his chair, smiling.
"Driver 88. You're just as good as they say."
He poured a drink.
"Let's see if you're good enough to survive me."
The screen flickered.
A new race was about to begin.
And this time—
The entire world would be watching.
