Chapter 27
Chapter 27: Heavenly Dao, Get Out!
The gale is also known as the Wind of Life.
It is a gift bestowed upon the living beings of the continent by the Heavenly Dao. As long as one bathes in the gale, they can remove chronic diseases, dispel toxic filth, enhance their cultivation, and attain comprehension.
Each time the gale tide occurs, it is a monumental event, celebrated universally with cheers from the crowd.
Unfortunately, such grand events happen only once every hundred years, and less than fifty years have passed since the last one!
Shangguan Wuhui’s face showed signs of anxiety. Was he really going to make his daughter wait another fifty years?
“Hmph! I thought you had some skills!”
Tang Qi stood up, spitting blood, his eyes filled with undisguised resentment.
“Setting an impossible condition on purpose is just to mask your incompetence; you can’t do it at all!”
As soon as these words were spoken, many agreed.
Zhou Tong’s condition was no different from not suggesting anything at all; if they truly had to wait for the gale to arrive, it would already be too late.
“Tang Gongzi makes a valid point!”
Luo Yi finally dropped his pretense and openly supported Tang Qi: “Shangguan Sect Master, in my opinion, this kid is a fraud. The rescue of the young lady might very well be due to Tang Gongzi’s pill, while he’s just taking credit for it!”
“Yes! Yes! All of it is my credit; this trash is just putting on airs!”
Tang Qi’s eyes lit up as he quickly found a reason for himself.
The crowd exchanged glances, and it was not hard to tell from their expressions that many believed Tang Qi’s nonsense.
The reason was simple: Zhou Tong had done nothing. He had only held Shangguan Wugou for less than a quarter of an hour, and the crisis was resolved. It was hard not to arouse suspicion.
“Shut up!”
Shangguan Wuhui shouted in anger: “Whoever has the ability, step forward and help my daughter detoxify. If you succeed, I will willingly hand the entire Supreme Clarity Sect to you. If you fail and still dare to cause trouble, don’t blame me for being ruthless!”
The crowd immediately fell silent, not daring to speak. Shangguan Wuhui’s words carried a clang of weaponry, and no one dared to provoke him.
“Sir, I am willing to pay any price to save my daughter. May I ask how to teach me?”
Shangguan Wuhui’s demeanor was humble as he bowed again to Zhou Tong.
“Set up an altar and sacrifice to the wind!”
Zhou Tong said concisely, causing Shangguan Wuhui to shiver.
Let alone him, everyone present widened their eyes, believing Zhou Tong was speaking nonsense.
The gale occurred once every hundred years; this was a law of the Heavenly Dao, and even if the heavens broke apart and the earth crumbled, it wouldn’t change.
What could Zhou Tong do? At most, he was just a beginner; how could he use flesh and blood to perform matters of the Heavenly Dao!
This was simply a fantasy!
Zhou Tong, however, was not concerned about the opinions of others and continued: “Outside Enforcement City, at a place surrounded by mountains and rivers, set up an altar. The altar must be divided into seven layers, each guarded by a Strong Warrior of the Transcendence Realm, ready to follow my orders. When I ascend the altar to sacrifice to the wind, no one may come within ten miles of me. Today the wind rises; can it cease three days later?”
“Sure! I’ll go gather people immediately!”
Shangguan Wuhui did not hesitate, his figure turning into a gust of wind, dashing away, leaving behind a stunned crowd.
“You are too reckless, daring to boast about such unbelievable things. Do you know the consequences?”
Chen Ling’er, familiar and worried, scolded Zhou Tong.
“What does it have to do with you?” Zhou Tong scoffed.
“Don’t be unreasonable! Come back to the sect with me; only Master can protect you!”
Chen Ling’er grabbed Zhou Tong’s wrist, trying to drag him away forcefully.
“Let go!”
A sword sheath slashed down, striking her wrist and causing her to retreat in pain.
“If anything goes wrong, our Master will protect him; we don’t need your false concern!”
The Little Demoness stood defiantly in front of Zhou Tong, having long found Chen Ling’er disagreeable.
“You are harming him! If you had any conscience, you would think about him and let him come with me!”
Chen Ling’er was agitated, her eyes filled with mist.
“Chen Ling’er…”
Zhou Tong called softly, just like in the past.
“I’m here! Junior Apprentice Brother!”
She raised her head suddenly, her eyes sparkling with excitement, waiting for Zhou Tong’s response.
“You really make me feel disgusted!”
As soon as these words were spoken, Chen Ling’er’s expression shattered.
“Why… you weren’t like this before; you clearly said…”
Before she could finish, Zhou Tong interrupted her.
“Listen well; I will not turn back. The time I spent with you is my greatest stain. I wish you all would die right away!”
“No… don’t say that!”
She pleaded desperately, no longer possessing her former pride.
No matter how she thought about it, how could she not understand? Wasn’t the case that she didn’t respond to Zhou Tong’s feelings? Wasn’t Master just a bit strict with him? Weren’t her junior sisters just being a little mischievous and rebellious? How did it come to this!
Zhou Tong had tolerated them for so many years; why couldn’t he take a step back again?
“Shi Jie doesn’t need to plead for him; just wait and see what happens when he fails!”
Tang Qi was furiously angry, grabbing Chen Ling’er and trying to drag her away.
“This damn woman still dares to think about rekindling old flames; I’ll see how I deal with you later!” he cursed in his heart.
Yet Chen Ling’er wouldn’t budge, fear reflecting on her face: “You’re right; we must protect him. Quickly send word to Master and have her prepare the rescue. No… I’ll transmit it personally!”
As she spoke, Chen Ling’er ran off, crushing the transmission jade amulet.
“You whore!” Tang Qi watched her alluring figure, his eyes turning increasingly blood-red.
…
Outside Enforcement City, at Sky Isle Mountain, by Earthly Kun River…
In less than two hours, a towering altar rose up from the ground, surrounded by seven stone pillars, corresponding to the Big Dipper.
Everything was ready, only the gale was missing!
As Zhou Tong stepped onto the altar, all unrelated people retreated. Countless strong warriors stood in the sky, watching from afar, their expressions grave.
Tang Qi’s expression was cold, but his heart was pounding; he feared Zhou Tong would really succeed. If that happened, he might overshadow him and cause Mo Liushu to have a change of heart.
“Master, will that guy succeed?”
Finally, he couldn’t help but ask the soul within his ring.
“Impossible, absolutely impossible. No one can change the will of the Heavenly Dao!”
An old voice responded, finally allowing Tang Qi to set his mind at ease.
His master had never been wrong!
At this moment, Zhou Tong exuded a tranquil aura, as if time had frozen.
“This is a good opportunity; just in time, I also have some questions that need answers.”
Unparalleled spiritual power surged to the sky, and then, red lightning erupted from his body, the Union Lock ringing loudly as it pierced into the clouds.
“Boom!”
A tremendous wave of energy spread out; no matter how far apart they were, everyone could clearly feel the infinite majesty contained within.
“It’s actually the fifth level of Joyful Harmony Celestial Skill… Heavenly Speech of the Vast Sky! This little pervert has reached such a level!” the Little Demoness exclaimed in shock.
Zhou Tong gazed at the sky, his will guided by his spiritual power towards the heavens; no one could hear what he said.
“Heavenly Dao old man, I know you are here; why don’t you come out!”
