Chapter 24
Chapter 24: The Lawless Little Demoness
Enforcement City is a magnificent and immense stronghold nestled among towering mountains and deep valleys.
At this moment, Zhou Tong, the Little Demoness, and Long Lingyun have arrived in the city.
From today onwards, for the survival of their sect, they will be working as laborers for a period of time.
Mu Ran Ya remained at the Joyful Union Sect to prevent certain individuals from disregarding martial virtue and stealing again.
Despite being an organization of enforcers, this place was bustling with prosperity.
Countless rare and exotic treasures were available for trade at the periphery, and the currency used for trading was merit points.
The enforcers established a currency system on their own, demonstrating their immense strength.
The three headed directly to the Enforcement Main Hall, where they could take on tasks and earn merit points.
After confirming their identities, they finally stepped into the hall.
As soon as they entered, they spotted familiar faces.
Tang Qi and Chen Ling’er were walking side by side, with two lackeys trailing behind them, seemingly having been waiting here for a long time.
“Oh, oh, oh… isn’t this the infamous traitor? It’s been a few days, and you look like you’ve been utterly crushed!” one of the lackeys mocked, with eyes filled with derision, attracting numerous gazes.
“Shixiong, I assume you guys are here for tasks, but unfortunately, you’re too late.” Tang Qi’s eyes gleamed with mockery.
“Whether we’re late or not is up to you to decide!” Zhou Tong bypassed him and looked at the middle-aged man behind Tang Qi; he was the enforcer who visited them the previous day.
“I am the messenger assigned to receive you; you can call me Luo Yi.”
Luo Yi got straight to the point: “The Joyful Union Sect has accumulated a debt of merit points over the years, totaling five hundred thousand, including interest. If you cannot pay half of it within three days, there will no longer be a need for the Joyful Union Sect to exist.”
Upon hearing this, the people around were filled with shock.
Five hundred thousand merit points, if converted to spiritual stones, is equivalent to five million spiritual stones. Such a value could rival the entire foundation of a small sect.
A destitute sect like the Joyful Union Sect would absolutely not be able to raise such wealth; its demise was already a foregone conclusion.
Thinking this, many people displayed expressions of gloating.
Numerous individuals hoped for the Joyful Union Sect’s disappearance so that Zhou Tong and the others would no longer qualify for the Hundred Sects Battle, allowing them to have one less formidable opponent.
Yet Zhou Tong smiled, for he had learned that he could take on alchemical tasks, earning ten thousand merit points for each seventh-tier pill he crafted. It would be easy for him to gather two hundred fifty thousand merit points within three days.
However, just as he was about to take on a task, Luo Yi suddenly spoke.
“Sorry, all tasks have been contracted by the Jade Purity Sect; you are not authorized to accept them.”
At this declaration, the three froze. Pre-contracting tasks required a massive amount of merit points as a deposit; the Jade Purity Sect had gone to great lengths to sabotage them by doing this.
Long Lingyun frowned and pointed at the people around her accepting tasks. “Why can they take on tasks while we cannot?”
“Quite simple!” Luo Yi smirked, his lips curling into a mocking and playful smile. “Because the Jade Purity Sect has already instructed that anyone can take on tasks, except for you!”
Upon seeing his expression, Zhou Tong and the others immediately understood that Luo Yi had been bribed by Mo Liushu, intentionally targeting the Joyful Union Sect.
“Hahaha… when I say it’s too late, it’s too late. With the Master intervening, you have no chance whatsoever,” Tang Qi said with arrogance, his gaze fixed disdainfully on Zhou Tong, eager to see him break down.
But Zhou Tong remained unfazed, leaving Tang Qi’s hopes dashed.
“To still put on a brave front at this stage is truly disgusting,” one of the lackeys sneered, pointing at Zhou Tong. “You better face reality. If you want to save the Joyful Union Sect, kneel and beg Shixiong for mercy at once! If he’s pleased, perhaps you’ll get a sliver of a chance!”
As soon as those words fell, Zhou Tong had yet to react when the Little Demoness unleashed a chilling killing intent, causing the two lackeys to change color.
“I think you’re tired of living!”
“Demoness, I advise you not to overreach; this is the Enforcement Main Hall. If you dare to act, you’ll end up with nowhere to bury your body.”
The two were unafraid, staring arrogantly at the Little Demoness, even hoping she would make a move.
“Kneel down and bark like a dog!”
The Little Demoness suddenly shifted her demeanor, becoming utterly enchanting, like a celestial being in the mortal realm, radiating breathtaking charm.
“Qiluo Dream!”
Zhou Tong’s expression changed at once; he quickly steadied his emotions.
Once this technique was unleashed, the onlookers couldn’t help but be entranced, even with all their might to control themselves, they couldn’t hide their admiration shown in their eyes.
The closest person lost his senses and knelt down without hesitation.
“Bark like a dog, three times!” the Little Demoness said coldly, looking down from a height.
“I love you! I love you! I love you!”
Hearing this commotion, others instantly snapped awake, drenched in sweat.
The sound of the sycophant was truly extraordinary.
Only a moment ago, they too were on the brink of joining the sycophant’s ranks.
The Joyful Union Sect was indeed terrifying!
“You’re the kind of scum who doesn’t even qualify to like me; even if I die, I wouldn’t spare you a glance!”
Her tender, rosy lips uttered the coldest of words, shattering the other’s heart.
“No! Please give me a chance! What don’t you like about me? I can change!”
“No way!”
As soon as those words fell, the other’s eyes dimmed instantly, soon overflowing with boundless rage.
“Demoness, you dare to reject me? Then die!”
He was filled with murderous intent, immediately boiling over, reaching the point of love turning to hate. He unleashed a deadly move, aiming to tear the beautiful woman before him into pieces.
But the Little Demoness merely grinned slightly; the Red Dust Sword was drawn in an instant, showing no mercy as she cleaved the man in two!
Crimson rain fell, yet she remained unscathed, blooming amidst the slaughter like a flower at dawn.
“Ah! Ah! Ah… someone’s been killed!!”
“Kneel down and bark like a dog, three times!”
The Little Demoness retracted her Qiluo Dream and addressed the other lackey.
With a thud, he knelt without hesitation.
“Wow! Wow! Wow!”
“Haha… now that’s a good dog. Good dogs have the right to live.”
The Little Demoness looked at Chen Ling’er and Tang Qi, defiantly provoking them.
“You dare to kill here? You’re finished; the enforcers will make you pay the price.” Chen Ling’er exploded in anger as killing intent flickered in her eyes.
As her words fell, a group of individuals clad in white battle garments rushed to the scene, surrounding it completely. They were the enforcers’ guards.
When they saw the corpse on the ground, their pupils couldn’t help but constrict sharply.
“I killed him; he attacked me first, forcing me to retaliate.”
The Little Demoness openly admitted.
“Please wait a moment.”
The leader’s expression turned cold and resolute as he activated the preservation array to grasp the details of the incident instantly.
“The attack intent is confirmed, and the intent to kill is obvious; it can be deemed as self-defense, no charges needed… Dismissed!”
With a wave of the enforcer captain’s hand, the entire enforcement team departed like a tide, leaving behind the crowd still in shock.
